The Living Spiritual World
The Spiritual World is a vast dimension of reality that surrounds and defines everything. Fairies, demons, Djinn, devas, dybbuks, dakinis, Nymphs, mermaids, ghosts, nagas, orishas, Iwa, mysteres, Elves, dragons, The Bastagh, are just a few names of the many kinds of spirit beings that surround us. Considering how many people ardently deny their existence, it is astounding how much the knowledge of spirits has permeated our culture.
You do not have to believe in spirits to be surrounded by them. Do you want to flatter a woman? Call her a goddess. If a woman is beautiful, small, lithe, and sexy, she might be called a sylph or a sprite. If one finds this woman to be inspirational, she becomes your muse. If she is irresistible, she becomes a siren. By the way, all of those names belong to spirits.
Want to flatter a man? Call him Adonis or an Apollo. If he’s a museum, call him Orpheus. Do you have an enemy that is gunning for you? That person is your nemesis, named for the Greek goddess of justice and vengeance. Ever been stuck in a situation that you can’t get out of and prayed to get out of this hell? You have just invoked Hel, Norse guardian of the realm of death. Ever tried to seduce someone using music, food, money, or an aphrodisiac? You have just invoked the goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of love and sex.
The images of spirits also surround us. Garden stores offer stone sphinxes, plaster gnomes, dragons, angels, and demons. Mermaids appear on the back of Starbucks coffee cups. The Lilith Fair held every year honors the demon goddess and first woman Lilith. Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” was a song that actually evokes the Welsh goddess Rhiannon. Desi Arnaz’s trademark song “Babalu” was a tribute to the West African deity Babalu. The macarena was not just a dance craze but a spiritual tribute to La Macarena, a favorite Madonna of Spanish matadors.
Our most important holidays are times in which we connect more deeply with the spiritual world. Christmas, New Years, Halloween, and a host of other worldwide holidays, are time honored respites from the physical world that billions of people celebrate each year. We are surrounded by a living, vibrant, and very ubiquitous spiritual world. Yet, most people know very little about it. Agriculture, medicine, weaving, cooking, art, science are all gifts from the spirits. Most of the important discoveries in our world were inspired by visions and entities from the spiritual world.
In our seminar, The Living Spiritual World, we will take a fresh look at the spiritual world and how it interpenetrates and shapes our world. Spirits are involved in creation, birth, death, dreams, and everyday life in ways that we can hardly image. In this seminar, we will examine the important relations that we have with these entities in this life, the dream state, the afterlife, and beyond. We will also look at the forces that compel and impel the spirits to interact with us and us with them. We will look at the major spiritual worlds that surround ours and the spirits that rule them. We will also look at the role of the soul in the spiritual world, what it is made of, and how the soul may evolve to become a more evolved player in the realm of spiritual life.
There will be elements of both our Living Soul Seminar and The Spiritual World in this new workshop. However, this is a new presentation and is designed to more thoroughly cover these topic than we ever have in the past. We look forward to doing this presentation for our Houston family.
